Emile Zola has been found dead in his own house, the victim of accidental asphyxiation. His wife is also affected and is seriously ill—Reuter.
30th September.
Emile Zola and his wife retired to bed at 10 yesterday evening. They had a stove in their room, and it is supposed that a defective flue caused an accumulation of poisonous fumes.
Madame Zola is now out of danger.
The rumours that he committed suicide are absolutely baseless. Reuter.
