The Captain-Superintendent of Police charged a mafoo with furiously and recklessly driving a pony and carriage, to the common danger, near the junction of the Nanking and Chekiang Roads, on the afternoon of the 7th instant.
Capt. Boisragon said that at 5.45 p.m. on the 7th instant the defendant was driving at a furious rate down the Hupeh Ttond and collided with witness's brough ham. The accident took place at a dangerous corner, but luckily there was little traffic there at the time, or the defendant must have collided with several carriages. Witness's brougham was only slightly damaged, but the defendant's carriage was damaged considerably. There had been a great number of acci-dante lately, the result of furious drive and the Police bad been given strict instructions to adopt extreme measures in such cases. Witness suggested that the defendant should be cangued as well as fined.
