Schools.
Five day-schools have been kept going in the Foreign Scttlements—the three for little girls have depen ly for their upkeep and mistresses ies on the—the two schools partially. In this way some ninety children have been afforded a_useful education in their own language and their homes have been opened to Chiristian influence. The curriculum has included besides the Chinese classics, elementary instruction in the three rules," and the study of Chistian books.
