General Offices Site—The reply of the Land Commissioners to Messrs. Hanson, MeNeill & Jones' appeal against the recent award la Case No. LXXL i submitted and ordered for transmission to the concerned. The correspondence is ordered for publication Shavgbai, January 19, 1910.
Dean Sin,—We beg to acknowledge the receipt of your letter of the 10th ween the beneficial owner to the property and he instructs us to appeal to the Ccancil against the decision of the Land Commissioners on the ground that the amount, viz., Tls. 100,000 fixed by the Land Commissioners as the price the Council should fay for his property inadequate since it falls short of the amount claimed by Tls 15,000.
Ho asks os to point out that as it is 1 case in whioh the whole of the property is to ba acquired by the Council against the.wish of the owner the Council should be prepared to see that lie does not lose on the transaction With regard to the rest produced by the property he ix prepared to prove by his books that the figure farnished by him is errrect and maintain that he should in n0 way be prejudiced by any evidence as to the amount of rent on which taxes have beea collected. The tenants or rome one of them may have suppressed infor-motion to the number of tenants or the amount of rent paid bat no inquiry was made by avy assessor or tax collecter of us or of the landlord as as the rents paid. If the valuations of the two experts obtained by the Coaneil is based open the rentals as slated by the tax department they obviously take the question. no further and cannot justi the infliction ofa loss of Tls. 15,000,
