Strike and Riot in Osaka

Kobe, 12th June.

Owing to the establishment of a river steamer service in Osaka which interfered with their business, there has been a strike of jinricshamen there. The streets are deserted, only private vehicles running.

'A mass meeting of jinrieshamen in the Y. M A. Hall this morning was dispersed by the police. Three hundred of the men marched to the south district, and attempted, to wreck the steamers. They had a free fight with the police, and two hundred of them were arrested.—Our own correspondent.
