There will be very general expression of regret at the news which has jast neon received of the death of Mr. Charles Vincent Smith which took place recently at Staten Island, New York.
It will be remembered by many that Mr, Bmith was long and prominently connected with Rossell & Conpany, and was with them at the time of their memorable failure la 1891; in fact it may be that the decline in his health was due to the disuppoi and worry that that calamity entailed. Mr. Smith came to Chins about 1873 and left after s residence of eighteen years to revisit it in 1903 with Mrs. Smith. On the last occasion be remained for three yeara, during which time he represented the Eqnitable Life Assurance of the United States.
