"This being the time of year for the annual pilgrimage to worship the God-doss of Mercy, Yaugshow is a busy place. The crowds are so great that the city gates are not closed from the fifteenth on to the end of the month. Pilgrims come from great distances to visit this shrine. An understanding of the vows paid to this one goddess is enough to dispel all [doubts as to whether or not the Chinese are of a religious turn of mind.
Pingshantang, the place where this shrine is located, is a famous resort at all seasons of the year, and is of special interest hi cause the Fifth Spring Under Heaven is found there.
