Yarn in Hongkong

Messrs. Polishwalla & Kotwall's report for the fortnight ended August 16 states that the total business in Hongkong during the period amounted to 4,800 bales, the bulk of which was in No. 20s. This count, which was neglected for some time, suddenly sprang into favour, business having been done at advanced prices; while No. 108. were weak and neglected. During the latter portion of the fortnight exchange was unfavourable to business, and there was some slackness among buyers. The unsold stock of Indian yarn is about 11,600 bales, while sold, but undelivered in godowns, and to arrive is about 55,000 bales. About 200 bales of yarn from the Hongkong Mill is reported to have been sold, No, 128. at $134 and No. 6s, at $146.
