Salt Tax as Security

London, Sept. 10.

Renter's Agency learns that nego-ions have been proceeding since the middle of July and have resulted in the signature of a loan agreement on August 30 by the Chinese Minister in London and a London banking house. The detai[s are not yet settled, but it is believed that the agreement is for a loan of £10,000,000 at five per cent. for forty years, which is to be secured upon securities that are not already pledged by the Chinese Government, chiefly the salt tax.—Rexter.
