The Russian Legation informs Reuter's Agency that a battle continues on the East Prussian front in the region of Mariampol. 80 far, its result has not been determined.
The Russian troops captured the German positions at Krasno by a night attack and pursued the enemy energetically during his from Leipany to Suwalki. Cavalry and artillery attacked the Germans on the road from Seiny to Suwalki causing them to retreat in disorder.
There has been heavy fighting in the Suwalki region. The Germans sent reinforcements by rail to Margrabovo and assumed the offensive on the Augustovo-Suwalki front. They made a night attack with the bayonet near Ratehke, but sustained great losses in killed and pri Augustovo was bombarded with heavy artillery on October 1 until 2pm. The Russian infantry then assumed @ strong offensive and entirely repulsed the enemy from this region.
