On Friday last a hunt by moonlight, starting from Gordon Road Riding School, provided an exciting time. The heavy dew that had fallen caused scent to be good. A badger had evidently been on the feed in one of the garden patches close to the meet and had moved off on hearing hounds arrive. Picking up the line the hounds worked it out carefully until close to Robison Road, when they found the badger in a big patch: of reeds. After taking several turns up and down the reeds he slipped away through a string of bamboo fences thereby getting a long start as hounds had great difficulty in getting through, Crossing the Gordon Road the pace quickened until they finally killed half way between Ferry Road and the Union Brewery. A fast hunt with what appeared to be either a weasel or civet ended in the quarry going to ground.
On Sunday the meet was at Yangtszepoo Tram Terminus, Hounds quickly found a civet in the reed bed between the cotton mill and woodyard. After a fast hunt, lasting about three-quarters of an hour, he went to ground in a wood pile. He was with difficulty evicted; but at length taking a jump from half! way up the pile he landed amongst a crowd of Chinese onlookers and was caught by a watchful hound before he could get clear.
