BRITISH WOMEN'S WORK

FOR OUR SAILORS AND SOLDIERS AND — THEIR FAMILIES

To the Editor of the "Nonru-Cuia Datty News."

Sin—Now that our work is well started, it may be as well to inform the public through the medium of your columns, of the lines on which it runs. I make no apology, because at the outset, 115 you kindly promised the help of the "North-China Daily News Centres have been formed, and some women whose husbands hold prominent positions in different occupations or businesses have undertaken to make the plan known in their special departments, It is hoped that by this means most women will have found themselves in touch with some centre, but, as it is inevitable that some must. have been overlooked, a certain number of us have consented to act as referees, and, from them, all information may be obtained by those who desire it. Their names are given in an advertisement on another page.

A depot has been opened at the Supreme Court, as has been stated in a former letter when conditions under which people might avail themselves of it were explained. These conditions have been found to be unsuitable and it has been decided that all that is required is signed order without the amount either in material or money being" specified. It should be understood that there is no compulsion to buy things at the depdt rather then' elsewhere, It is opened because gifts of material and material that™ has been supplied by the generosity of firms at @ lower rate will there be sold at favourable terms. Also the depot will give signed orders on Messrs, Weeks & Ca., Ld., Messrs. Whiteaway, Laidlaw & Ca.,

who have kindly consented to see Messrs. Lane Crawford
