Educational

The various Government schools of the city have re-opened with about the usual numbers of teachers and students. The university has added to its foreign staff Prof. J. A. Russell Henderson, who will give instruction in chemistry and physics. The subordinate schools are rapidly pushing out into the Jarger towns and the rentals of town public lands or temple lands are gradually being turned into assets for these schools. Young native men of good character who can teach the Chinese written language, geography, arithmetic, and some English, are, and are to be, in great demand. This demand opens a door of wide influence for all who Lave come to help the Chinese to higher and better things.
