Hockey is the game most in vogue at present.
The gun-boats in port are the Vorwaerts and the Teal. The Teal came and relieved the Widgeon after Xmas.
Thi lance mission churches. The three missions in Tchang combine in this effort to bring the native Christians closer together. 'The meetings are held at 6 o'clock every evening and are very well attended. They are held alternately' in the Ghurch of Scotland, American Episcopal and Swedish Mission Churches. Every meeting is addressed by two speake one native evangelist and one foreign missionary.
The steamers are having difficulty with the river navigation this month. Already several steamers -have been aground. Mails have been much delayed. the river falls the channels gradually get washed out.
There is not much of interest. taking place in our port at present, Everything is quiet in the city and neighbourhood. We have heard that the opiam dens have to be closed at Chinese New Year time, but this may only be a rumour.
