In spite of the fact that the second starting gun went off a minute too soon, the start was 4% good one, Wee Wynn and Red Tape crossing the lino almost together and Madcap but little in the rear. Shortly after the start Red Tape got under tie lee of a jank and lost some ground in getting to windward again, but picked up and passed the other two boats before entering the junk anchorage. From this; point Red Tape obtained a good lesd, while Wee Wynn and Madcap were more or less blanketed by the A class yachts overhauling them. At the entrance to Pagoda reach Red Tape, taking advantage of the last of the flood, managed to pass the leading "swallow," Firefly, and rounded the mark boat some two minutes head, but was' overhauled on the home tretch, finishing some seconds after Firefly.
