Feng Yuchsiang is attacking th: problem of the development and Colonization of the Northwest in a manner which, it appears, will eventually yield great benefit to himself and to China, building a motor road across the Gobi from Paotowchen, the terminus of the Peking Suiyuan Railway, to Ninghsia, on the Kansu border, a distance of 400 miles, and many of these canaly have now dried up, but Feng Vu-hsiang has lately asked the technical of the China International Relief Commission in u plan for "digging them out, and providing the region with a system which will assure plenty of water for all the settlers who can be attracted.
