The Red Cross in Palestine

Stories at Saturday Club Tiffin There was an excellent attendance of members of the Saturday Club and their friends at the tiffin given on Wednesday in the Carlton Cafe. Dr, ©. T. Wang occupied the chair and the speakers for the day were Capt. E. B. Chaffee of the American} Red Cross Commission to Palestine and the Near East, and Lieut. Allen. A. Hunter, of the same organization.

Before calling upon the speakers Dr. Wang: made some very interesting observations upon a movement known as the Pan-Pacific Union. Started at Honolulu some 10 years ago this organization endeavouring to promote friendly intercourse between the peoples of the various lands around the Pacific Ocean. Dr, Wang spoke of thi movement being extended to Shanghai, and of a branch of the society being established here. He believed that this union would go a long way towards bringing about the fuller understanding which was necessary between one nation and another. The idea of the League of Nations was excellent, but if we wanted to bring it to reality it would not be done merely through diplomatic relations but by the intereourse of the people of one country with the people of another.
