very interested company of parents and friends the annual sports took place on Satutday and Monday last. The weather was all that could be desired on the opening day, but a slight rain on Monday made the course somewhat greasy and had its influence upon the times accomplished. Every event in the long programme, which contained twenty. three items, was keenly contested and some capital performances were recorded.
The chief honours of the occasion fell to Masters T. Wade and C. Encarnacao amongst the elder boys, and to J. Roche and A. Rangel among the juniors. Owing to the size and shape of the ground the course was difficult one to travel over, there being 15 laps to the mile with, some rather sharp corners to negotiate, and under the circumstances the mile running race in 5 minutes 40 seconds, and the mile walking in 9 minutes 10 seconds, were very creditable performances.
