In a short session devoted to minor matters the Council of the League of Nations to-day approved the proposal to despatch a commission of inquiry to Portia on the subject of cultivation of opium. The Council also adopted a refolution expressing its thanks to the Bureau of Social Hygiene of New ' York for its contribution of—$20,000] towards the expenses of the inquiry.
