Earthquake shooks of long duration and great intensity have been felt generally in Europe, especially in Italy and Spain.—Reuter.
Theee reports are evidently connected with the earthquake that was recorded at the Sicawei Obeervatory on January 4. A report courteously sent by the Director and published yeeterday stated that an earthquake bad been registered, which lasted for more thoo two hours from 7h. 32m. 62. a.m. The approximate distance of the earthquake was between 4,500 and 6,000 kilometres (about 3,000 miles) probably to the West. To-day Sicawei Observatory reports that the shock registered on January 4 waa one of the strongest recorded in the registers of the Observatory. 'A second shock was registered at 5h. 44m, 443. p.m. on the same day.—Ep.
