The total index number for February is 159.6 being 1.8. per cent, higher than the previous month end 1.3 per cent, higher tan the corresponding month last year. In comparing it, wi that of June, 1050, the highest point over reached by this index, it is less by 0.2 per cent, only. Thus in the past 44 months, the: ts' Index Number present month has the highest Index number. Tt is less probably due to the fact that business is gradually developing since complementary sales after China New Year.
Certain ground have advanced in their prices, while many others show marked falls. For in among the eight groups in table the averages of fuds, building materials, industrial' mater-mis all show' declines.
