On the fall of Tsingtao, President Yuan sent 820,000 to Weihsien to reward the troops of the 5th Division for their extra patience in preserving the existing friendly relations between China and Japan during the conflict round Tsingtao, especially when the Japamse occupied the Kiaochow-Tsinan Line.
