The Inquest

The inquest. on the bodies of the two was ope" on Wednesday at the Public Morruary by Magistrate Kuan and Mr. O. F, Garstin (British Assessor), and a verdict of wilful murder by some person or persons unknown was returned. A Point of interest in connexion with this and other crimes was observed th, by Magistrate Kuan, viz, that most of the crimes recently committed in the Settlement have oe curred between 6 and 7 o'clock in the evening, the hour when the police on the various beats return to their stations and fresh constables go on duty. We understand, however, that the rule is for constable to remain on duty until relieved by another man. In this case, the murderers went to work " stealthily, accomplishing their task and escaping without nttracting the slightest notice outside the house. No arrests have yet been made,
