Sidelights on Lord Kitchener

In a talk with Sir George Arthur, the author of Earl, Kitchener's "Life," a representative of the Morning Post" was able to glean some of the most: striking impressions made by the life and work of the great, Field-Marshal on those most intimately acquainted with him.

It is clear that as far back as} 1886, when out in Zanzibar, Lord Kitchener was definitely convinced of the German menace to the British Empire.

Of two things he! was certain: that Germany would, come to blows with England and that not only would she fight fiercely but she would not be particular about her methods. It is not to be wondered at, therefore, that; having this conviction all his great administrative work should have! been inspired by one main principle, namely, the securing of the' safety of the Empire.
