In the Chamber of Deputies twlay, M. Ybarne Garay of the] Republican and Democratic Univn. lasked leave to interpellate the Government on the subject of the amnesty accorded to M. Philinp: Berthelot.
According to M. Ybarne Garay, the restoration of M. Berthelot to Jo position must be considered an ject of policy since the directors of, the Banque Industrielle de Chine, Jand especially M. Berthelot, were Jcondemned merely to nominal penalties.
M. Moutet asked whether M.
Ybarne Garay was entitled to say anything against the Banque Indusftrielle de Chine, inasmuch he had been director of the Company for ommeree and Navigation which was mixed up in the matter.
Herriot in replying said that) the affair of the Banque Industrielle de Chine was still "ub judice and the Government refused to make Jany statement. Too much indeed had already been said about it. As {for M. Philippe Berthelot, the Premier read passages in the Amuesty Law. in virtue of which M. Ber-tre lot was amnestied, and the evid-
Jcitee against him destroyed. Legal Jexperts had decided that the honour ard probity of the accused was not impugned, drawal of M.° Ybarne ferpellation was agreed upon by 352 votes to 91.—Reuter.
