When asked if they would consent to give Sheng a bearing if he came personally, they absolutely refused even to we him. They threatened to ye the session if the Goveroment not listen to their imp: achm Their denouncement contains sixteen characters only, which woold mean English as follows:—Monopolizin power, insatiable io greediness, defeating the law, i: jwing order, cheating the High, (Emp-ror) tyrannizing over the low, (people) and the curse and evil-freit are adroitly and solely shifted to the Throne (i.e. all Sheog's policy has been sanctioned by the Throne upon the presentation of his memorial). President Li Chincha bad coprented to present the desired impeachment in memorial the next day, (October 26).
