Hyde Park Police Scandal

Report Handed to the Home Secretary

'The findings of the tribunal appointed to investigate the interrogation of Miss Savidge by Scot-Iand Yard officers have been presented to the Home Secretary. They consist of a majority report, signed by' the Chairman of the Tribunal, Sir John Eldon Bankes, Lord Justice of Appeal and Mr, 3. J. Withers, a solicitor and Conser-'M. P. for Cambridge Univer-'y, and a minority report signed Mr. H. B. Lees-Smith, Labour M, P. for Keighley.

It is reliably learned that the majority report unqualifiedly _acapts the account of the police witnesses concerning the interrogation of Miss Savidge at Scotland Yard and all the officials concerned are entirely exculpated. The general view in the report appears to be that they acted throughout in accordance with established precedent.

The minority report rejects the) police version on disputed matters, censures the police and suggests that many matters in the administration of the police urgently demand grave attention—Reuter,
