Unemployment Insurance Fund Exhausted

London, June 3.

The first move following upon the submission of the Government coal settlement proposals was made yesterday, when the mine-owners considered the district replies. They will remain in London till to-day in order to approve a communication to the Premier. It is believed that the mine-owners are willing to accept the Government's terms for a temporary settlement, but desire to refer the proposed permanent scheme, on which the Government would conditionally grant £10,000,000, to arbitration.

The Miners' Executive meets today. The rejection of the Government terms is a foregone conclusion, but the leaders are hoping to be enabled to consider a communication from the Government or the owners.

The optimistic feeling that something will emerge in the course of a few days is not damped by the present misty situation.
