A Romance of China

"fry Cxusese Mou," a novel. By Carroll P. Lunt, London and New York, John Lane.

This young author is known to many of us in the Far East. He has had the advantage of his daily experience and observation to create a mood which is thoroughly true to detail. This in itself is a recommendation.

We imagine that this is his first attempt at fiction. His style, though lacking the delicate touches only nature] to writers of more experience, still holds promise of excellent work in the future, Living in the East in constant strangers to the Orient.

Carroll Lunt, on the other hand. has the experience and the knowledge of the country and its inhabitants. With a more facile and descriptive pen, together with his gift of humour, China opens up to him a fine field for future work, on what can be termed "virgin soil" to the novelist.

Text read from the printed page and cleaned; old type leaves the occasional error.
