Attempt (o Disarm Soldiers Met with Resistance Chefoo, Aug. 26. Severe ritle-tire was heard in the city this morning, but the firing did Inst long and everything now seems It appears that 200 soldiers whose loyalty was suspected by the authorities (Chefoo still flies the Northern flag) were paraded out side the Naval Academy near the East Fort at 10 this morning for the purpose of disarming them. Apparently these men refused to xive up their arms and this led to the shooting. The result was about. 100 casualties, mostly among the suspected men. The remainder of them escaped, adding to the large number of armed men that have been terrorizing the countr} rary authorities an organized attack by groups of bandits. It is believed that this fear accounts for the attempt to disarm the 200 men this morning.—
