Mokanshan, July 30.
The new hotel was the centre of gay scene at the opening cere many on Saturday night.
The propecdings opened with a dinner, at which speeches were made, and Mr. Pape, who has been the architect for the hotel, was presented with a handsome silver bowl. After the dinner there was music and dancing—the latter being kept up until a late hour. The orchestra had come from Shanghai, and their rendering of dance music was much appreciated by the very representative gathering present.
The hotel is built on a projection of the rocks, and is open on three sides to the plains, to catch every breeze that blows There are 20 bed and bath rooms, beside the usual reception rooms and wide verandah. The furniture throughout! is well chosen, electric light is installed, and the whole design of the hotel is on as modern lines as can be had in a mountain resort.
