To the Editor of the "Nortm Cuixs Dany News" our friend _komrad nearly white washed by! the Mixed Court and set free to resume his profitable occupation and work against peace of foreigners in Chi other hand, should any destitute! Russian refugee, driven to des foy unemployment and hunger propriate" a loaf of bread or solicit Jatms in the streets of this Model Settlement, he usually gets from the same Court several weeks of; gaol. I am afraid, that from such different treatment of these two offences, most of the destitute Russians here will soon and logically leone to the conclusion that it much more profitable to conspire! with the Bolsheviks against the foreigners, than to solicit work or alms. Well, after all, may be, we Russians, have been great fools to take side with Christianity, civilization jand order and oppose Bolshevism {from the beginning in our own' country and abroad. May be vould have been much more practiical and profitable for us to have joined in 1917 the forces of lawlessness, devilry and destruction and help them in their work of world destruction. If we had done 0, we would have now at our disposal such highly efficient lawyers as Dr. [Fischer and plenty of money for bail and holidays, as we see it in the lease of Messrs, Doster, Fortunatoft land Ca.
We have in Shanghai two schools, (the Russian Orthodox Confraternity School and Mrs. Diterich's Orphanage), caring for destitute Russian children. The. parents and families of most of these children were killed by the Bolsheviks, and therefore I take the liberty to make ithe suggestion, that the money confi seated from the Bolsheviks and [the forfeited bail of Dr. Fortunatoft should be given to these schools. I [hope that all friends of loyal Russians here will lend their support} ite, this suggestion and thus bring Aittle happiness to these innocent ims of the cruelty of the present rulers of Russia.
