A serious motor accident, fortunately unattended by any loss of life, occurred on Monday at about 11.15 p.m., when a motor car was completely smashed on the Woosung Road and its four occupants, three Japanese and the Chinese chauffeur, were thrown into a ditch.
It appears that the car in question, together with another containing five Japanese and a Chinese chauffeur, was travelling along the Woosung Road towards Shanghai. Apparently they were racing, and when near the " Halfway House the car containing the most passengers touched the other which swerve ed and fell over the side of the road into the creek. Fortunately none of the occupants were seriously hurt, though the car is reported to have been very badly damaged.
