The influential "Gothburg Pos-ten," in a leading article on the attitude of Sweden towards the belligerents, says that Sweden's desire to weaken pressure from the East, arising from Russian efforts to attain an unfrozen northern port, are natural. It is equally natural for Sweden not to be indifferent to the substitution of other pressure, the strength of which it is impossible to her aspirations towards the northern seas will cease or at least considerably diminish. Sweden must watch events very attentively and must have her hands free to protect her independence and inviolability during the peace negotiations.
