According to Press reports, a bill for increasing the tariffs on woollen' fabrics to 25 per cent. is to be presented in the Diet during the coming session, but it is learned from official sources that the percentage has not yet been decided pon, though a slight increase is probable. It derstood that increate to 25 per cent. is not likely Japanese manufacturers are not able to supply all demands and. its imposition would infiet hardships upon the consumers, who have to pay the additional duty on imported goods.
Tt is further learned that the proposed increase in the woollen tariff is part of a bill for a general tariff revision, which is now being prepared for' presentation shortly'
