London, July 10.
Mr. G. L. Patterson (Australia) beat Mr. Lycett (England) in the final of the world's lawn tennis championship at Wimbledon to-day, 6/3, 6/4, 6/2.
There was a moderate attendance and_to-day was the first day with. out Tain since the opening of the meeting.
Mr. Lycett opened the game with a double fault, but afterwards improved, with beautiful cross-court drives on to Mr. Patterson's backhand. In the middle of the second set, however, he fell away and the Australian, serving with his usual power and using the chop-stroke very effectively, was easily superior.
