_The following denial of a report that a-well-known-American has been acting as naval adviser to the province of Chekiang and commander-in-chief of the Ché- kiang Navy, has been sent to us by General Lu Yung-hsiang, Director-General for. the. Reorganization of Military Affairs in Chekiang "I wish to say: that no foreigner, of any nationality whatsoever, is or has been engaged by us to act in the capacity of adviser or any other post of whatsoever nature. t "I am taking this opportunity. of sending you this denial which I trust you will be so kind as to make public inthe columns of your esteemed' paper which is, as always, the advocate. of truth, honesty and justice which everybody so admires.
