The operation of the municipal regulation forbidding motor-cars to overtake and pass one another along Nanking Road has been attended with such success that the authorities might very well feel encouraged to apply the same to other places in the Settlement. One such spot is the Garden Bridge for there, in the interests of safety all round, motor-cars should neither overtake each other nor tramcars while on the bridge itself. As a matter of fact it is good driving Bridge rather than to pass it, be practice to follow a tram over the cause of the large amount of traffic which is using a somewhat narrow bridge. Certainly to pass between the pavement and a car stationary on the north end of the bridge is a most risky proceeding, while to pass on the off-side tends to interfere unduly with on-coming trafic. Some motorists might grumble at having to crawl along behind a tramear but the majority would probably be just as willing to acknowledge the virtue in such a rule as is to be seen in Nanking Road.
