An order issued yesterday by the National Government Council to the Executive Yuan, instructs that suit~ able measures for the administration of Weihaiwei be formulated.
The order points out that Wei haiwei being newly taken over by the Chinese Government, conditions. obtaining there are necessarily peculiar. Taxes collected in the territory should therefore be such that they will not be detrimental to local economic conditions. Special efforts should also be made to reduce the administrative expenses. Should the local revenue be insuffi cient to cover expenditure, the deficit should be met by the Central Treasury—Kuo Mine prohibited
