At a meeting of the Committes of the All India Congress, Mr. Ghandi, moving approval of the compro: mise suggested at the Swarajist Conference at Calcutta largely suspending the programme of non-com operation, made a surprising recantution of his views, especially with [regard to entry. into the legislative councils, which he has hitherto resolutely opposed and which is the main barrier between orthodox po= Hticians and: Swarajists.
Mr. Ghandi sadly admittat that he had lost the power to, command universal acceptance of his views.
