Completely Gutted by Fire While Undergoing Overhaul Marseilles, Dec. 30.
'The str, Paul Locat (12,989 tons), tone.of the best known' passenger steamers of the Messageries Mari times on the Far Eastern service, was completely burned out to-day in a fire which lasted the whole day. All internal fittings were destroyed, and only the shell, plating and frames were saved.
She was in drydock being overhauled when the fire occurred. The cause of the fire is unknown.

All hope of controlling the fire on the Paul Locat has been abandoned, The vessel is regarded as a total loss, The damage is estimated at Frs. 50,000,000. No one was injured Reuter.
