Life imprisonment was the sentence meted out to the surviving member of the gang of armed robbers who engaged in a general pistol battle with the police in a house on Dalny Road on August 18, when he appeared before Judge Tseng and Mr. Whitamore at Provisional Court on September 19.
hero were six robbers in the party and the police had been warn~ ed of their coming whereupon an' ambush was arranged with the result that five of the intruders received mortal wounds with the sixth being seriously hurt.
