Alleged Oppressive Collection of Money 'A very important suit has been instituted in the Kinngsu Higher Provincial Court "and the Min' -y of Justice by Mr. Whang. Sztsi, a well-known local lawyer, the defendants in the ease being the Shanghai Chinese Bar Association, lof the abures of which several articles were published in the "North-China Daily News" recently. Mr. Whong's impeachment is a very lengthy one but he does not mince his words and it will be interesting to see what the outcome will be.
'The petitioner, Mr Whang, prays for relief against what he describes as the unlawful usurpation of power and abuse of functions on the' part of the executive and supervisory committees of the, Association, for an order declaring the: r actions and decisions illegal, and for a thorough investigation of the whole case.
After. the re-organization of the Association and the introduction of the committee-system, the petition ys, the whole association became an unlawful monopolizing organ of the gang of committee-men instead of being an organization for the benefit of all its members as it should be. In view of this, many of those in the same profession do not desire to be admitted into this association.
