"To fight to the bitter end!" This was. the slogan adopted at the emergency meeting held on Friday afternoon in the Chinese Chamber Jof Commerce building by the Shangha Special District Rickshaw Owners' Association to determine its attitude towards the Rickshaw Board.

The meeting, which was attended several hundred owners of public rickshaws in the Settlement, resolved not to comply with the new rules and regulations to be enforced on August 1, and not to apply for ownership certificates which will be required in renewing licences for the jgpsuing months.

In order to strengthen its force in its present opposition campaign, the meeting voted for the organization of a joint office of the Shanghai Special District Rickshaw Owners Association and the Chinese Ric /shaw Owners' Association in the Chinese district to handle the situation, snd a warning was duly issued 10 the owners against betraying the decisions of this meeting.
