AEROPLANES AND MACHINE-GUNS

Shortly after' sunrise yesterday two Avro scout planes circled above the mines compound and then set off in a northeasterly direction. It is stated that they have landed at the base of the hills adjacent to Paotzeku just within the troop's lines, where a large landing field has been prepared with temporary hangars.

The afternoon four three-inch mountain batteries arrived on railway trucks at Tsaochuang and were unlimbered and despatched for the hills forthwith. Tsaochuang presents the appearance of an armed camp with infantrymen and artillery and cavalry detraining -and taking the field.
