THE NORTH-CHINA

Chinese circles report that the British Legation has addressed a Note to the Waichiaopu protesting against the failure of the Chinese authorities to afford protection to the British missionary ies at Tsaoshih.—Reuter.

The Rev. C. G. Sparham, seoretary of the London Missionary Society, courteously informs us that a telegram despatched by the Rev. F. G. Onley, from Hankow, at 6.45 p.m. on Saturday, says "Both London Mission houses reported burned. Bandits are Honanese. Hospital and Chinese doctor safe. All London Mission foreigners at Kuling."
