Designs by Ministry of Finance for Foreign Competition The Ministry of Finance has decided on a complete change in the national currency. The Ministers in England, America, Germany, France and Japan have been asked to secure moulls for the new currency. 'These are of four kind (1) The face to bear a likeness of Dr. Sun Yat-sen; the obverse to be a ship in full sail. This is to indicate that China' will take her Place among the leading scientific nations of the world; "(2) To be the universal currency of the 18th (this year) of the Republic. The face to have a likeness of General Chiang Kai-shek, The obverse to have, in the foreground, a wheel-barrow, in the middle distance a view of Purple Mountain and tke Yangtze, and in the background a picture of Nanking; (8) The face to be a likeness! of President Sun and the obverse the same as (2); (4) on the face ilkness of Dr. Sun. On the obverse a map of Chin overspread with flags of the Re public, This is to indicate the unity of the nation, The samples should reach the capital before the end of the year and the workmanship of the nation that is approved by the Central Government will be chosen. When the eioice has been passed by the Central Executive Yuan the minting of coins will be taken in hand next year and, gradually, the new coins will displace those now in circula tion,
