Cammiade, Mr. HA. Recks appeared for the plaintiffs. "The defendant stated that he was a newcomer to Shanghai, and had paid $680 covering three mor ease of premises from the plaintiff. He now considered that this rent was exorbitant, and asked for the return of $450. He admitted the debt of $424.85, and requested the court to [award him the difference between that amount and the $450.
