Prices showed a fairly stonely tendency toward lower levels during the month of December. Although ut losses for the month varied widely. from. fractions to nearly four points, with a few issues even rostering net gains, the bearish Influence was felt during the greater part of the month though with diverging effects on various issues Jand. in. different intensities during various periods.
'Especially most damaging appeared to be the heavy selling toward the lose of the month, notably on the 20th and 23rd, when the liquidation fof outstanding' positions brought about [substantial Tosses. These were partly recovered on the ist but further Tesses on the 24th brought prices yot lower.
The month opened with unsteady Auetuations during the greater part fof the first week, lasting from November 29 to December 7. Buslness was food on these days and prices dosd with but little variations {due to approximately equal gains and losses on various days. riees steadied wien the second week was reached but they were xencrally more inclined toward lower Agures. This week closed with the more recent issues slightly tower but with small gains for the older ones.
The market was definitely bearish during the third week which opened with substantial losses, Prices declined by various amounts during the first three days, recovering partially on Thursday. Further losses were sustained on the next day which wax followed by another recovery but on Saturday more losses were recorded, On the 28rd, the last day for current month trading, prices declined. sharply and when December quota-Nous wore removed on the 24th yet further drops were noted.
Total transactions for the month amounted to. $89,630,000, Maximum loss was registered by 6 per cent.
