Trading in the stock market to-day was sluggish, with prices edging forward up to 2 points. Steels and rails were to the forefront, although profit-taking was a restraining influence. The French suspension of gold payments, which has long been expected, had little effect on the market. Brokers repotted moderate buying on balance from abroad. The turnover 910 amounted to 550,000 shares.
